AustCham India was established in 1989 on the shared vision of former Prime Ministers Mr. Bob Hawke of Australia and Mr. Rajiv Gandhi of India, to promote and strengthen bilateral trade and investment between the two countries.
The Chamber was formally inaugurated on 22 June 1989 by His Excellency Mr. Graham Feakes A.O., the then High Commissioner of Australia to India. The Australian High Commissioner to India continues to serve as the Patron of the Chamber.
Over more than three decades, AustCham India has served as an enabler of sustainable business growth between India and Australia, facilitating business tie-ups and collaborations across industries and institutions in both countries.
Headquartered in Chennai, with chapters across India, the Chamber today represents around 500 members spanning a wide spectrum of sectors, including technology, manufacturing, engineering, consumer goods, electronics, IT, pharmaceuticals, consulting, exports, services, and more.
